Caleb Scorsone, a Pro Tour Mental Golf Coach and the founder of KaizenGOLF based in Augusta, Georgia, works with pro golfers from the PGA and LPGA to the developmental tours such as e-Golf and NGA Hooters tours. Formally trained and degreed in sports psychology as well as years of experience in golf has lead to the development of his popular mental training method CogMotion.
CogMotion is rooted in a basic and proven principle that thought patterns influence emotional patterns that ultimately affects performance. To have lasting change in performance, consistency and maintain confidence, CogMotion goes deeper than most other mental golf coaching methods by rebuilding core thought patterns, many of which are subconscious and negative, to be positive and then guides the training process through to performance.
This logical, common sense approach has proven effective and dispels the notion of getting into “the zone”, it’s simply a matter of conditioning your mental state for peak performance.
Much of the reinforcement training is done through mental conditioning exercises such as guided visualizations that focus on different parts of the game such as putting, pre and post shot routines, tournament preparation, pure putting confidence, etc. Although these are usually used post the core CogMotion program, players have found an immediate improvement by just using the visualization mental conditioning exercises. Many of these conditioning exercises are available for download on his website at ThePlayersFocus.com.
