My name is Colin Cromack. I am a Golf Performance Coach and creator of Target Oriented Golf. My work sits upon ALL technical coaching methods. I specialise in and coach in practice attentional focus on the range and golf course. What’s attentional focus? A complex brain function at the heart of the mental skill you need to play golf consistently – Visualisation. Learning how to keep your target in mind whilst looking at your ball is Target Oriented Golf. ERRONEOUS conscious thought processes in your pre-shot routines, prevent you from doing this consistently today. If you have been looking for the ‘secret to golf’, it lies within you right now. NO hypnosis is necessary.
Developing technical proficiency (self awareness) and playing high performance golf (attentional focus) are very different psychological skills. I coach both Professional and dedicated amateur golfers how to develop an awareness and discipline of conscious mind during the entire period between stepping into the ball and observing it fly to your target. This is where golf performance lives enabling an intuitive flow of action within the 1.5 seconds of the swing and putt. A SINGLE erroneous conscious thought today as you prepare to swing elevates arousal levels and destroys physical flow. This manifests itself as performance anxiety destroying the putting strokes of Pro and amateurs alike.
Over 15 years of research and personal discovery I have developed an applied psychological coaching program based on detailed understanding of the CONSCIOUS mind and its impact on physical performance. I uniquely teach golfers how to STOP focusing their attention on technique in play AND in practice for this is where mastery lives in EVERY other life skill you perform successfully. Golf is NOT unique and my work will demonstrate why learning technique (INTERNAL FOCUS) and playing golf (EXTERNAL FOCUS) are VERY different skills. Academic research is also revealing that an EXTERNAL focus of attention is superior for faster motor skills acquisition and shot accuracy.
Concentrate, focus, stay present and visualise are words easily and often advised. Some try to improve their golf whilst sitting at home circumventing the conscious mind using hypnotic suggestion CD’s. Target Oriented Golf teaches you how to pro-actively use, NOT bypass, your conscious mind to develop concentration, focus and visualisation skills whilst practicing golf at the range. This involves helping golfers understand some neuro-science and then how to use short term memory, auditory and visual, brain functions effectively on the range and golf course. Professional golfers benefit most from my work but it is vital training for all golfers for it helps develop technical proficiency faster. These skills take just hours to learn, the mastery of them is dependent on your dedicated practice. This is no simple task but you will discover it is Golf.
