Effective Practice

If you are practicing effectively, then you’re spending some time simulating the mental and physical conditions of the golf course with “Performance Practice”.

Most golfers practice in a way that doesn’t transfer to the golf course. They hit lots of balls focusing on technique, which is far from what happens on the golf course.

On the golf course:

  • Every shot counts
  • Every shot is a unique challenge
  • There is time between each shot

When we do more “Performance Practice”, it helps us:

  • Challenge the brain to make changes, instead of easy repetitions
  • Simulate how we need to think on the golf course
  • Simulate being uncomfortable
  • Train our “Process”
  • Practice lowering the “Stress Response”
  • Expose our weaknesses so we can strengthen them

A good performance training session will cover all these aspects. If you’d like more information on how to set this up, please check out the Golf State of Mind Practice System.
